My name is Dr. Noel McGuire

After receiving my Ph.D. in Media and Communication Technology from Chapman University, I have assumed the role of a Research Analyst at Smarty Pants, leveraging my expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research to transform data into market insights for a range of clients in varying industries.

Over the years, I have upheld a rigorous research agenda committed to conducting interdisciplinary, mixed-method research around one goal: to understand how people leverage media to make sense of themselves and the world around them. 

More specifically, I examine how:

  • Engagement with media narratives and digital platforms (e.g., social media) shapes individual, family, and communal well-being.

  • People use media to make sense of identity and create assumptions about power and place.

  • Empirical scholarship can be used to inform authentic and conscious content creation, production, and hiring practices in the entertainment industry.
