Hello!
My name is Dr. Noel McGuire
After receiving my Ph.D. in Media and Communication Technology from Chapman University, I have assumed the role of a Research Analyst at Smarty Pants, leveraging my expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research to transform data into market insights for a range of clients in varying industries.
Over the years, I have upheld a rigorous research agenda committed to conducting interdisciplinary, mixed-method research around one goal: to understand how people leverage media to make sense of themselves and the world around them.
More specifically, I examine how:
Engagement with media narratives and digital platforms (e.g., social media) shapes individual, family, and communal well-being.
People use media to make sense of identity and create assumptions about power and place.
Empirical scholarship can be used to inform authentic and conscious content creation, production, and hiring practices in the entertainment industry.
